BLACK HAWKS REAL CHAMPS Victory Over New York Americans AmericansConvinces Convinces Record Opening OpeningCrowd Crowd of Their Brilliance After manager Bill Stewart had received the Stanley Cup presented by manager Gabby Hartnett of the Cubs who is a personal friend of Stewart the Chicago Black Hawks took the ice at the Chicago Stadium Thursday night and before a rec ¬ ord opening crowd of 15842 paid customers showed that the winning of the hockey j championship last Spring was no fluke by soundly trimming the New York Americans to the tune of 6 to 1 1The The Hawks simply romped over the Ameri ¬ cans which in former years found the Chi ¬ cago team easy picking The score really did not do justice to the marvelous play of the Hawks Never before in the thirteen years in which the Chicago representatives in the National Hockey League have been playing has a Chicago team displayed as much class as did the Hawks Thursday night nightThe The old No 1 line of Thompson Romnes and Marsch played up to its usual standard and in one of the best passing demonstra ¬ tions of the evening contributed one of the goals scored and was much in evidence in defense play whenever called upon The new line of Blinco Robinson and Northcott pleased the big crowd and convinced every ¬ one that they will make the Hawks a team hard for any to beat The veteran but ap ¬ parently never ageing Johnny Gottselig showed that he is still supreme as a puck handler and shot one of the goals home for a score He had as partners on the third line the brilliant Cully Dahlstrom and the newcomer Desilets Dahlstrom counted the first marker of the evening with assists from Robinson and Blinco He also figured in the Gottselig score Two defense men in Art Weibe and Rog Jenkin blasted two goals in the second period Big Earl Seibert and Alex Levinsky were on the job every min ¬ ute as well as ever reliable Mike Karakas in the nets The latter would have had a shutout but one of the defense men ob ¬ I scured his vision for the only goal the Americans managed to register registerLopsided Lopsided as was the score the game was interesting and the Black Hawks convinced all that they will be tough to beat
