SKOTCHY AN EASY WINNER Finds Heavy Going at Shreveport Track to His Liking I Kom ps Home Four Lengths to the Good GoodOver Over Lous Prince and Tangalo Nine Start SHREVEPORT La Nov 4 R C Groff s Skotchy raced to a onesided victory In the fourth event a dash over the short five fur ¬ j longs course which served as one of the fea ¬ t tures at the Shreveport Fair Grounds track t this afternoon This fiveyearold son of Scotch Broom performing before one of the J largest crowds of the meeting took the lead g at the break finding the heavy going to his f faniy and scored in easy fashion as Lous j Prince ran second and Tangalo third thirdSkotchy Skotchy ridden by G D Cameron ran the distance 3 in 103 and completed the dis ¬ t tance with a lead of four lengths At one j time he was as much as six lengths in front c of his nearest rival and he could have main ¬ tained that advantage to the end had his r rider so desired Lous Prince which closed strongly got up in the closing strides to grab t the place by a head from Tangalo which i had raced the early furlongs in hottest j pursuit of the winner winnerGALABANG GALABANG WHEELS WHEELSFourth Fourth in the field of nine was Hallucina t tor Galabang eliminated himself right at t the start by wheeling and was only gal ¬ j loped after the field fieldThrough Through his score astride Skotchy appren ¬ tice Cameron completed a double Todays i attendance was augmented by many women i who were guests of the management and by others who took advantage of the return of pleasant weather to turn out outE E L Wests Modern Lash well ridden by apprentice W Cassity wore down Wise Ed ¬ c die fn the closing strides to get a nose deci ¬ sion at the end of the short five furlongs of the first race Wise Eddie a slight favorite over the winner showed the way over the early furlongs by what appeared to be a i safe margin but after reaching the final eighth Modern Lash began to close in on the pacemaker and ultimately nosed him out Sun Martin was a bangup third and then followed Billy Skilful to show the way home to the others in the field of seven The vic ¬ tory was the first of the year for the West mare mareACCIDENT ACCIDENT IN SECOND SECONDAn An accident marred the running of the second race but fortunately neither the rider M Pantone nor the horse Holy Smoke was injured The horse fell at the threesix ¬ teenths post while racing right up among the leaders The winner was F Hausmans Mr Boss ridden by G D Cameron with the public choice Westy Junior running second and Woodway finishing third Mr Boss away alertly took the lead before reaching the first turn and held it the rest of the way completing the short five furlongs with an lengthsThe advantage of three lengths The third also contested at about five fuMongs saw W A Bales Triple Rose win ¬ ner of his only previous start score an ¬ other victory With W Page at the reins the son of Triple Threat took an early lead and never lost it although he only lasted to score by a neck Charmette supplied the principal contention and accounted for second money with Texas Tech third Bena Bane which came in for staunch support followed in closest pursuit of the winner to the last furlong and then weakened wind ¬ ing up fourth among the seven twoyearolds which accepted the issue
