OPEN HOUSE AT THISTLE DOWN Sunday Set Aside as Inspection Day at Cleveland Track Eight Weeks of Racing to Begin Next NextSaturday Saturday Gumpere Opening Racing RacingSecretarys Secretarys Office CLEVELAND Ohio July 8 Thistle Down is ready for the opening of its forty four days of summer racing next Saturday During the eight weeks of racing nine stakes will be offered first of which will be the 2500 added Inaugural Handicap next Saturday Tomorrow openhouse day will be observed and the visitors will find the plant in spic and span condition Many im ¬ provements have been made since last year and one of them is the grading and paving on the parking lots This was a much need ¬ ed improvement and is sure to meet with the wholehearted approval of the patrons patronsThoroughbreds Thoroughbreds have been arriving at the Warrensville Center track for several days and at this time there are more than 200 performers on the grounds At Bainbridge Park where 500 horses will be quartered there are 100 head and the racing strip at that point has been put into firstclass con ¬ dition ditionGeneral General manager Edward P Strong will arrive here tomorrow and final preparations for the opening will proceed under his per ¬ sonal supervision Charles F Henry will be here Thursday but his office will be opened on Monday by Andrew Gumpere his chief assistant Gumpere will look after the regis ¬ tration of horses and take nominations for the Inaugural Handicap which close Tues ¬ day dayMANY MANY DETROIT STABLES STABLESA A check of the list of applications for stalls reveal that a majority of the stables now participating in Detroit racing will be here for the long season During the past week several stables moved over from North Randall and there have been many arrivals from Illinois Delaware Park and other points pointsErin Erin Sweep Springmeyer Eastorian Kremlin Flying Ark and Sweep Wine which race for I J Collins moved over from North Randall today The principal divi ¬ sion of the Collins establishment and which is conditioned by Al Miller will arrive here with the close of the Detroit race meeting meetingAmong Among other stables arriving here Thurs ¬ day were the racers of Mrs J T Simmons and the George B McCamey string The latter stable in care of Charles Howell com ¬ prised Open Hearth Grey Doll Able Abe High Baby Our Reigh Earlyin Jean Dale and Queenship The Simmons detachment consisted of Capt Nadi Ann Star Palm Island Mr Quick and Indian Head HeadUnloading Unloading Saturday from the AkSarBen track at Omaha were the stables of H Nel lor and F Nancolas Nellor will bring the consistent twoyearolds All Lizzie and Plaudaway and six older horses
