ARGENTINE HORSE TRIUMPHS TRIUMPHSSiete Siete Colores Scores Maiden Victory Victoryin in Canada Owner H C Hatch HatchPresented Presented With Cup FORT ERIE Ont July 8 Siete Colores fouryearold brown son of Silurian Katja II acquired by H C Hatch in Argentina making his third start in Canada found a track to his liking for the running of the Hotel Statler Cup and raced to an easy tri ¬ umph three and onehalf lengths before C Smythes sturdy campaigner Shoeless Joe Third place went to Erindale Stables Toby T two and onehalf lengths back backSiete Siete Colores was well ridden by appren ¬ tice A Snider and raced the mile and sev ¬ enty yards in 148 over the deep and holding track The Hatch colorbearer is one of the five Argentinabreds which were purchased by the Toronto patron and is the only one to appear under silks silksFollowing Following the running H C Hatch was presented with the cup on behalf of the hotel for which the race was named There was little delay at the start but when they were sent away they left straggling Bit of Sorrow being practically left and Golden Thought breaking in motion As they went to the first turn Sir Bevidere and Shoeless Joe drove to the leading Golden Thought while Snider dropped Siete Colores down on the inside in fourth place placeSHOELESS SHOELESS JOE THREATENS THREATENSAs As they went to the back stretch Sir Bevi ¬ dere went to the lead and Shoeless Joe moved up on the outside of Golden Thought and the three drew lengths before Siete Colores All through the back stretch Shoe ¬ less Joe and Sir Bevidere fought for the lead and Siete Colores began to move up slowly slowlyOn On the lower turn Shoeless Joe drew clear while Snider called on the South American and he moved to Sir Bevidere with a rush As they entered the stretch Siete Colores came with brilliant speed and passed Shoe ¬ less Joe with ease to draw clear with his rider looking back at the end Shoeless Joe easily held second place while Toby T which had raced far back closed in third place
