ADAMS OPPOSES STATE PLAN Calls Scheme to Take Over Uncashed UncashedSuffolk Suffolk Downs Mutuel Tickets TicketsSmall Small Potatoes BOSTON Mass July 26 Charles F Adams president of the Suffolk Downs track told a legislative committee today that a bill to have the state hold unclaimed win ¬ nings at horse and dog racing tracks was pretty small potatoes potatoesDeclaring Declaring there was considerable book ¬ keeping and handling expense involved in dealing with such money Adams said in ¬ vasions like this make it difficult for the track to operate at a profit profitGovernor Governor Leverett Saltonstall who esti ¬ mated there was approximately 150000 in unclaimed winnings at the tracks in the last five years had recommended the bill to the legislature upon the suggestion of the state racing commission Under the plan the money would be placed in the state treasury but holders of the winning un cashed parimutuel tickets could collect on them if properly certified
