I FARLEY WONT TALK NEW YORK N Y July 26 Fresh from his weekend conference with President Roosevelt a conference which aroused con ¬ siderable speculation James A Farley de ¬ clared that until the president publicly pro ¬ claims his intentions the identity of the 1940 Democratic nominee cannot be determined Sailing aboard the S S Manhattan for an European vacation Farley sought to dodge political questions with the simple predic ¬ tion that whoever the Democratic nominee may be he is sure to defeat the G O P standard bearer Reporters pressed him finally asking the point blank question questionDo Do you think the postmaster general will be a candidate for the nomination nominationFarley Farley replied It is futile for me or any one else to talk of 1940 until the President has expressed his position The postmaster general predicted a period of real prosperity citing that business is picking up all over the country
