DETROIT GROOMS TO VOTE ON AWARD PLAN MONDAY MONDAYWinning Winning Groom Offered 9 and All With Starters 1 Apiece ApieceDETROIT DETROIT Mich May 24 Due to the fact that grooms employed at the Detroit Fair Grounds track work unusually long hours officials of the Detroit Racing Asso ¬ ciation are making very effort to compen ¬ sate them proportionately proportionatelyThe The day preceding the opening of the cur ¬ rent meeting a committee of grooms called upon the officials and asked that the groom of the winning horse receive 10 instead of the original plan of 1 for each groom who leads a horse into the paddock The offi ¬ cials readily agreed to this system systemSince Since that plan was put into effect rumors have been circulated that the grooms were not entirely satisfied with this groom award payment method they originally sanctioned When this situation was brought to the attention of the track officials they immediately sent for all grooms in an effort to settle the affair satisfactorily satisfactorilyBecause Because of the long hours the grooms toil the Detroit Racing Association has volun ¬ tarily announced that they would pay the groom of the winning horse 9 when the thoroughbred was taken to the saliva box The groom however along with all others who bring horses to the paddock for races will receive 1 upon arrival with charges in the paddock paddockThis This plan will of course cost the associa ¬ tion considerably more money but track officials believe that the boys from the back stretch are entitled to the added compensa ¬ tion tionAll All grooms will assemble in the racing secretarys office Monday morning at 11 a m and cast a vote on the approving of the association award of 1 for leading a horse to the paddock and 9 additional to the groom leading the winner to the pad ¬ dock One dollar will be paid as groom leads horse intp paddock the groom having the victor will then be paid his 9 additional at the saliva box boxThe The election will be supervised by the Michigan Racing Commission
