COUGH CAUSES MISTY ISLES WITHDRAWAL FROM MATRON MATRONDan Dan Stewart Unloads Racers for Wideners at Arlington Park ParkARLINGTON ARLINGTON HEIGHTS 111 June 27 When trainer Dan Stewart arrived at Arling ¬ ton Park today to supervise the unloading of fourteen horses belonging to Joseph E Wide ner and Mrs Peter A B Widener he found the threeyearold filly Misty Isle with a slight cough and promptly withdrew her from Saturdays Matron Handicap HandicapOne One of the top ranking members of her division Misty Isle was one of the early favorites for the Matron With that stake as her first local engagement she had been shipped to Arlington in advance of the other Widener horses horsesWhile While Misty Isles unfortunate sickness was universally deplored Mr Widener still has an entry and possible threat for the Matron in the threeyearold filly Jezebel H That imported miss ran a cracking race at Delaware last Tuesday easily beating a good field in a one and onesixteenth mile race under allowance conditions The distance was a sixteenth farther than the Matron Jeze ¬ bel IL took a commanding lead set a fast pace and won by three lengths in time just fourfifths of a second off the Delaware track record She accomplished the task in a fashion to indicate that she might do some flying under her light impost of 100 pounds in the Matron MatronCAPTURED CAPTURED THREE STAKES STAKESAs As a juvenile last year Misty Isle won six races three of them important stakes the Lafayette at Keeneland the Hyde Park at Arlington and the Matron Stakes at Bel ¬ mont a leading event for twoyearold fillies Misty Isle is one of Mr Wideners nominees for the Classic ClassicThere There were four threeyearolds in the Widener shipment all of them refugees from France where they were members of the thoroughbred menage the Philadelphia sportsman long maintained in Europe before the war Besides Jezebel H they are the colts Royal Ruby IL and Lord Vatout and the GangesOther filly Ganges Other members of the Widener division arriving at Arlington were the fouryearold Plowshare full brother to Stagehand nine twoyearolds seven of them fillies including Pruning a Lassie candidate Saves Nine Ralda Negation Mirrored Knock Knock Lady Renard and the geldings Syrian Boy and Batik
