HANGER ASKS THAT PURSE BE GIVEN IN DEFENSE BONDS STANTON Del June 27 Arnold Hanger who presented the Keeneland association with a turf library and owner of Dit winner of tfie Sussex Handicap does not want the 8450 in cash which Dit earned but prefers it in United States Government bonds In a letter to J Simpson Dean president of the Delaware Park Steeplechase and Race Association the Kentucky and New York sportsman states he wishes to receive the purse in defense bonds His request is be ¬ lieved to be the first in the history of American racing In making his request Hanger wrote wroteI I think the administration in Washing ¬ ton should know that racing and racings people are firmly behind the campaign for sale of defense bonds bondsThe The members of the Delaware Park execu ¬ tive committee immediately voted their warm approval of Hangers decision and are proceeding with the purchase of the defense bonds In addition to president Dean other members are Donald P Ross and William duPont Jr
