Swiv Proves Best in Chatham Fields Detroit Racing Suspended for Today Bad Racing Strip Holds Up Entries EntriesRacing Racing Secretary Hopeful Of Filling Tomorrows Card After Respite of 24 Hours HoursDETROIT DETROIT Mich June 2 When entries failed to fill by 1030 a m today at the Detroit Fair Grounds officials of the Detroit Racing Association immediately announced that the sport would be sus ¬ pended for Thursday June 3 3Racing Racing secretary Charles F Henry and the members of his staff have been ex ¬ periencing considerable difficulty in filling programs during the present meeting In ¬ clement weather and bad track conditions have hampered the efforts of these offi ¬ cials and horsemen have been reluctant to race their better thoroughbreds thoroughbredsRacing Racing will be held at the Fair Grounds on Grounds on Friday June 4 if a suitable program can be arranged for presentation Racing secretary Henrys offices will be open at the usual hour tomorrow for the acceptance of entries for the Friday card cardTraining Training activities have been curtailed by the heavy track prevailing at the Fair Grounds and many horsemen have been unable to bring their charges to peak form Programs thus far have been unusually good in spite of the adverse track con ¬ ditions and Motor City officials felt in fairness to the public and turfmen it is best lo cancel Thursdays program rather than to present mediocre sport sportWith With 24 hours respite Henry hopes to fill a good card for Friday from the ranks of the sturdy thoroughbreds who have been furnishing the competition over the gruel ¬ ling racing strip here
