AH New York Tracks Will Give Breeder Awards of Five Per Cent in Stake Races Change Plan in Overnight Races So That Breeder of Winner Will Receive 25 25ELMONT ELMONT L I N Y June 2 The presidents of New Yorks five major race courses were in conference in the Belmont Park board room this afternoon emerging to make an announcement of especial in ¬ terest to Americas thoroughbred breeders breedersEffective Effective today the breeder of the win ¬ ner of a stakes event at any of these courses will receive the equivalent of 5 per cent of the added worth of the stake ex ¬ cept in races whose conditions already pro ¬ vide a breeders award awardThe The breeder of the winner of an over ¬ night race will receive 25 the policy of awarding 15 to the breeder of the second horse being abandoned as of today June 1 1What What this does of course is to encour ¬ age the breeding of higher grade perform ¬ ers through the graduation of awards simultaneously putting less premium on platers A movement is afoot to effect a somewhat similar graduation of purse val ¬ ues among the moderate grade thorough ¬ breds and platers The presidents of the New York tracks are agreed on the importance of these awards which were suggested in DAILY RACING FORM and the MORNING TEL ¬ EGRAPH both to the American thorough ¬ bred breeding industry and to racing Many of the most important and valuable turf fixtures are decided during the New York seasons A few courses now provide awards awardsPresent Present in the conference this afternoon were George D Widener Belmont Theo ¬ dore Knap Aqueduct George Bull Sara ¬ toga and Empire and Dr Edward P Kil roe Jamaica It was understood that the dispossed Saratoga Association meeting was dis ¬ cussed as well as Empire Citys status but no announcement was forthcoming con ¬ cerning those meetings
