HI-TY, showing good speed, quickly assumed command and, lightly roused in the drive, won with something left. SEALANE came forward gradually and closed very fast along the rail. DOCKIE moved forward menacingly, but hung entering the drive. BROWN FLAME had early speed, but wore herself out trying to overhaul HI-TY. WHAT A PLAY could not keep up. VANSLAM made up ground. RODIA moved to the front from the outside and was kept under a drive to the finish to hold MISS MARY JO safe. The latter, well up but unable to menace until rounding the far turn, came out for the drive and finisbrd gamely. BOOM ON, slow to get started, circled his field and closed with a rush. DARBY DANJU, away alertly, could not withstand the challenge of the winner, though remaining prominent to the end. KIRWIN had no excuse. MERCURY lacked racing room in the early stages and, badly hanJIed, was permitted to be blocked entering the stretch, then dropped back. WALTHAM CROSS could not keep up. EXTEND, outrun to the far turn, made up ground when too late. MISTUCKY passed tiring horses. BETROTHED attempted to lug in early, was taken out rounding the first turn, went forwardly placed for five-eighths, then gave way. SWEEPNACK had no excuses. JUST TOURIST, from a slow beginning, improved her position under urging and passed faltering horses late. BELFRY CHIMES also made up ground late. ROMULUS set the pace under urging and had no excuses. ALCHANC had no mishaps. SURGEON DICK had no mishaps. SWEET MARGY raced evenly. CONNECTICUT could never menace. Claimed Romulus by Mrs. M. E. Reinhard for ,600.
