FAMINE, sluggish early and unable to reach her best stride until entering the stretch, closed with a cyclonic rush and won going away. ACKLEY assumed command at once, shook off FERNLET to take a commanding lead, then stopped to a walk in the last twenty yards. FERNLET, unable to stay with ACKLEY early, showed an even effort. LOST MATE was well placed throughout and may improve with education. POOCHANELLI failed to improve her position. WEE GRAY was throueh early. Scratched— Curler, 108; 75289 Hairan Best, 112. TACK ROOM, under restraint while nearest the leader early, opened a commanding lead rapidly and won with speed in reserve. NORA BELLE moved into the runner-up position on the turn, could not threaten the winner and just lasted for the place. SUNGINO, baldly outrun earlv. closed with a rush which was too late to become effective. TYRONE was hard ridden but failed to rally. THE DEMANDER forged to the front midway of the turn, drew clear after disposing of BALU EMPRESS, then was under a hard drive to stave off the bid of PRESSURE. The latter, much the best, was taken back several times when in close quarters on the inside around the turn, came between horses in the early stretch to loom dangerously and would have won in a few more strides. HANDYVVAVE, off slowly and hard ridedn on the inside to reach contention, moved to the leader menacingly just inside the furlong pole, then hung. BOSTON CAP raced on the outside throughout and closed with good courage. VOLTURNO tired badly after being well placed early BALU EMPRESS, always a forward factor, tired after being unable to shake off the others early. HIGH BOSS, hard ridden while driving through on the inside early, saved ground thereafter and lasted under good handling. FOXWISE raced the pacemakers from the start, was hard ridden in the closing test but was not good enough. BRIDES BISCUIT was steadied when outrun early, was hard ridden in the stretch but had nothing in reserve. ZAX, prominent from the start while racing between horses, tired badly in the final quarter mile. The others failed to reach prominence. Scratched— 75965s Chancegam, 111. BLACK OBJECT saved ground while racing well placed from the start, held on well but was overmatched. SANDY TRAIL rallied only mildly when placed to pressure ,n the final quarter. VIVA TEDDY, eased back dlightly when outrun early by SMILING LASS, moved through en the inside of that one to show in front nearme the half-mile pole, was not allowed to draw clear on the turn, then moved away when challenged by IDLE FOOL. The latter was under double wraps to the three-furlong pole, moved to the leader menacingly at that point then flattener out. SMILING LASS set the early pace, held on better than usual but was not good enough. BABY DARLING showed an even race, then broke her leg while being pulled up after the race. PHANTOM PLAYER was allowed to race on her own courage while within striking distance early, moved past the tiring leaders in the middle of the stretch and was ridden out to the end. VALDINA BRAVE was steadied while well placed early, loomed dangerously in the early stretch but was not good enough. LOST AND FOUND was hustled into command early, saved ground while retaining the lead but tired badly once headed. SMOKE PUFF failed to rally. SEA COMMAND lacked late speed. LADY DIVINE was crowed while just beginning to run in the stretch. ROMAN MATRON showed a good effort for three quarters. Scratched— 76206 Air Power. 113. Overweight — Roman Matron, 24 pounds.
