Bay State Kindergarten Stakes Run In Two Divisions at Suffolk Downs You and Me Gnu Head Respective Sections for First Running of Event EventSUFFOLK SUFFOLK DOWNS East Boston Mass May 14 For the first time in the i4 years existence of Suffolk Downs it be ¬ came necessary to split a stake into two divisions when 21 eligibles were filed through the entry box this morning for the initial running of the 7500 Bay State Kindergarten Stakes tomorrow A poll of all trainers who stated their intentions of starting were definite caused the Suffolk Downs management to run the juvenile stake in two sections as the fifth and sixth races on the weekend card Originally there were seven couplings included in the entries that constituted 13 different in ¬ terests terestsProbable Probable favoritism in the first section will be bestowed on Mrs M R Lewis You and Me a fleet son of Sir Mill out of the owners mare Jessie V L The young gelding scored at Hialeah Park prior to shipping north and has a victory in his lone start at the local oval defeating Jake Freedmans fleet Be Sure You and Me is the first get of the young stallion Sir Mill presently standing at Brookwood Farm in Lexington Ky whom Jack Howard once stated was probably one of the fastest colts he ever trained before injuring a leg in his only start necessitating his retirement to stud Trainer Sid Bernstein has the youngster in fine fettle for this engage ¬ ment completing his trials this morning by churning a half mile in 50 handily over a track deep in mud George Het tinger leading rider here will again handle the riding chores choresBrookmeade Brookmeade Stables Muzzle who ar ¬ rived from Belmont Park two days ago is well regarded by his connections and may prove the one to beat The homebred Bull Dog Handcuff colt has only started once in his career and that was this past Mon ¬ day at Jamaica In that race he finished fifth after showing an even effort The veteran Fernando Fernandez has been en ¬ gaged to ride rideSandy Sandy Strand Stables Fuzzy Muzzle is another that cannot Be overlooked and looms as a definite threat In his only local appearance the Eternal Bull colt closed determinedly to attract much attention despite the fact he was beaten nearly two lengths Tomorrows race will mark the fourth appearance under silks his last being the best effort to date dateReynolds Reynolds Brothers Abra Tralle Mc Brides Easy Don and E P Rodriguez Fighting Louie are all winners that rate consideration in a race of this type typeAn An even dozen are scheduled to vie for honors in the second division headed by Gnu another from Brookmeade that re ¬ cently was vanned here for this stake Gnu has been five furlongs in 104 over the local strip completing the work in handy fashion under the guidance of Charley Dickey who will do the riding to ¬ morrow morrowEngel Engel Man the Frances Stables colt who equaled the local halfmile track mark of 48 in one of his two triumphs here will receive a large amount of support after the manner in which he scored in his last race The Ladysman colt really turns it on in the late stages and needs only to escape interference to reward his backers Sammy Luce is slated to handle Engel Man ManEgretta Egretta owned by Jerry McCarthy may well be regarded the dark horse in this end of the stake A recent morning move attests to the fillys fitness Prior to com ¬ ing here from Garden State Park the daughter of Ramillies Polly Egret finished a good third behind Blue Peter and Mr Jay making up three lengths in the final stages of a four and a half dash that was run in record time The veteran M N Gonzalez is expected from the New Jersey track to guide the miss missThe The only coupling in the two sections of the test is in this half Buckley Lock lear have a formidable pair in Spinning Heels and Mr Tuck The former is a win ¬ ner over the local track while the efforts of Mr Tuck were enough to warrant a trip to New York recently to fulfill an en ¬ gagement in the Youthful Stakes at Ja ¬ maica The colt failed to impress in his Metropolitan start but was meeting some of the top juveniles to race on the Eastern seaboard this early in the year
