Propose State and Municipality Share in Louisiana Race Taxes TaxesBATON BATON ROUGE La May 21 An amendment to Act 276 of 1940 creating the Louisiana State Racing Commission was introduced in the House of Representatives yesterday by representative Joseph BlasL floor leader of the administration forces in the lower chamber The proposed change would provide for the equal distribution of taxes and fees collected from racing within the state between the state generalfund and the municipality hi which the racing is conducted conductedUnder Under the present law the municipality receives threefourths and the state gen ¬ eral fund onefourth after deducting the operating expenses of the commission and 250000 earmarked for the College of Agriculture of Louisiana State University for the exclusive use of experimentation in artificial insemination of cattle cattleSeveral Several members of the house joined representative Blasi in sponsoring the measure and it is generally conceded that approval will be obtained without serious opposition The only alteration provides for the diverting of an additional one fourth to the general fund It does not deprive the University of the portion it now receives Thus far there has been no proposal of increasing the present rate of taxation but several other amendments not necessarily dealing with taxation are likely to be offered Just what the rumored changes might be could not be ascertained
