Top Bracket Claimers In Detroit Turf Event EventMCCosh MCCosh Faces First Degree and Jacopades in Mile Offering OfferingFAIR FAIR GROUNDS Detroit Mich June 5 A race at one mile over the turf course for horses in the 10000 to 7500 claiming bracket tops the program at this course as racing moves into its third full week on Monday Best of the supporting races is a sixfurlong dash under identical conditions as the feature except for distance and course and these two contests are both brimful of competition competitionEight Eight rivals including an entry are en ¬ gaged in the turf race which is titled the J J McCafferty and here MCCosh from the stable of Bowles Seppenfield will at ¬ tempt to move up a notch over his two seconds at this meeting In both of these mile and a sixteenth tests MCCosh set all the early pace and faltered only in the final strides In both races he led home Mrs Henry Forrests First Degree and M J B Stables Jacopades two who are named to oppose him again here The shorter distance of the McCafferty should enhance his chance if he is found to favor the grass footing footingThree Three of the other rivals in the headliner were engaged in another race a week ago This was a sixfurlong dash in which Mrs George C Whites Up Grade who finished fast to be a creditable fourth was before Marltown from the stable of Graham Byrum and R S McLaughlins Santa Glaus U Grade was making his first local appearance of the year and may have needed the race to perfect his condition conditionThe The field is completed by J H Homans Plover Brand who is coupled with First De ¬ gree and Mrs Norman Hernandez Middle Man who was winner of two races at New Orleans in the spring while racing with company valued a little less highly highlyOn On the strength of this record the race would appear to be a bangup affair be ¬ tween MCCosh and Up Grade
