Miss America Inaugural At Lincoln This WeekEnd WeekEndAlsabs Alsabs Day Among Candidates For Juvenile Filly Attraction AttractionWASHINGTON WASHINGTON PARK Homewood 111 June 5 Queen of the juvenile fillies to compete during the current Lincoln Fields Racing Association meeting will be deter ¬ mined next weekend when the initial run ¬ ning of the 10000 Miss America Stakes will be offered over the abbreviated five furlongs distance Presently there are 16 sprightly lassies eligible and indications point to most of them facing the barrier barrierForemost Foremost of the lot is the muchtalked of Alsabs Day a daughter of Alsab Sev ¬ enth Day who was bred by her proud owner Mrs Albert Sabath Although her record doesnt quite compare with some of the others nominated she has created a glowing impression with dockers and her trainer H C Rod Dodson has minced no words in his praise for the bay filly Such word of mouth advertising often has a way of convincing patrons more than the actual past performances Alsabs Day has shown a number of fast moves as she preps for the Miss America her latest be ¬ ing five furlongp in 100 100She She started twice during the winter at Tropical Park finishing far back the first time over an off racing strip and then with that educational test under her belt she came through with a clever winning effort She made her next appearance at Churchill Downs where once again she failed the first time only to come through with a corking triumph over Miss Sal K Seely and others othersSeely Seely a very fast youngster has never been worse than second in a trio of starts In her Churchill dash against Alsabs Day she blazed a hot trail during the early running and was several lengths clear of her foes until the final stages when she succumbed to the Sabath colorbearers tre ¬ mendous rush As a preparatory effort for the Miss America she competed here yes ¬ terday and probably would have won but for being handicapped by a post position on the extreme outside in addition to los ¬ ing considerable ground as she made her bid on the turn into the stretch Her trials also have been of the highest order orderThe The Brown Hotel Stable will be smartly represented in the Miss Americaby the appearance of the precocious filly Jetrose J Graham Brown prominent Louisville hotel merchant who owns the stable pur ¬ chased Jetrose from the Keeneland Sales last year for 4700 and already she has proven a bargain having earned a total of 5445 in five starts during which she won thrice and was second and third in the other two starts In her most recent effort she was third in the Debutante Stakes at Churchil Downs behind Hal Price Head leys Acoma and F L Flanders Blue Note
