Trainer J B Hardison Fined In Linwood Ghost Sale Case CaseLONG LONG BRANCH Ontario June 12 The following ruling was made by the Long Branch stewards stewardsOn On April 28 1948 at Lincoln Downs track in Rhode Island Mrs J B Hardison wife of the ICRA trainer claimed a horse named Linwood Ghost for 1500 On June 4 1948 the horse Linwood Ghost was sold by trainer J B Hardison to J B McLaren for 2000 and ran in his colors and name at Long Branch in the third race on Sat ¬ urday June 5 1948 1948On On Tuesday June 8 Mr McLaren claimed Mr Zip out of the sixth race at Long Branch from V E Owens for 2500 and qualified as a legitimate claimant by reason of having had a starter at the meet ¬ ing namely Linwood Ghost on Saturday June 5 5Rule Rule Rhode Island has a clause in the claiming rule which prohibits the sale of a horse claimed in that state from being sold within 90 days of the date of claim with ¬ out special permission of the racing com ¬ mission missionTrainer Trainer J B Hardison admitted that he did not get this permission and when Mr Owens protested the claim of Mr Zip to the Metropolitan Association stewards at Long Branch the following ruling was made a Cancelled the sale of the horse Lin ¬ wood Ghost by Mrs Hardison to J B Mc ¬ Laren Larenb b Cancelled the claim made by Mr McLaren of the horse Mr Zip and ordered the horse to be returned to the former owner Mr Owens Owensc c Ordered trainer J B Hardison to pay all expenses arising out of the case and in addition fine him 100 for his fail ¬ ure to comply with the rules in regard to the sale of the horse Linwood Ghost to Mr McLaren
