Big Fields on Todays Narragansett Program ProgramWeathercock Weathercock Carries Top Impost Of 124 in Featured Dexter Purse PurseNARRAGANSETT NARRAGANSETT PARK Pawtucket R I June 17 The abundance of horses that were shipped here to run again is borne out in the heavy response to tomor ¬ rows eightrace program at Narragansett Park With one exception the seventh race which has drawn 10 starters all the events promise to offer full fields of a dozen con ¬ testants The best offering of the day will be the sixth race styled the Dexter for older horses at six furlongs The feature which will be for a purse of 3500 held under allowance conditions has drawii 12 eligible starters and four others on the also eligible list listTop Top weight of the Dexter goes to D F Harringtons former stakes winner Weath ¬ ercock with 124 pounds The liveyearold son of Challenger II has been somewhat of a disappointment in aarlier races this year but must rate another chance in a field of this calibre His outside post should enable the rider to spar for an early position Weathercock will have to be close enough to the leaders in the final quarter mile to make his late charge prof ¬ itable itableAnother Another former speedster who appears to have gone back slightly is H M Stacks Gorget This fellow is on the also eligible list and should he break into the starting lineup the 121 pounds he must carry may be burdensome in his present form formOf Of the 16 listed overnight for the test three will be making their seasonal debuts Mrs Weston W Adams Radar Man and Glass Ganos Air Faith raced in New England last year Radar Man was not campaigned too extensively winning once in six starts while Air Faith triumphed in three of her 12 starts The Ariel filly was very consistent in 1947 being put of the money only twice while competing against top sophomores in New England Her morning trials have been creditable and suggest a top performance is on tap The other member making her debut here is Mrs L Wagners homebred My Sister It will mark her first New England perform ¬ ance Last year she raced with ordinary company being successful on four oc
