Mc Ken ley Heads Quarter-Mile Field in L. A. Coliseum Meet LOS ANGELES, Calif.. May 11 UP. — Lean Herb McKenley, former University of Illinois star and the world record-holder in the 440-yard dash, will compete in the Coliseum Relays here May 19. McKenley will go against a 440-field including George Rhoden, National AAU 400-meters champion, from Morgan State: Olympic star Mai Whitfield, and Bill Parker of Occidental College, Los Angeles. McKenley won the 440 in the Jast Coliseum Relays. He holds the world record of 46 seconds flat .in the event.
