Ha rg reaves Wins Spaulding Open; Clark Out of Running WORTHING, England, June 1 UP.— Jack Hargreaves , a 37-year-old Binning- J ham golfer, won his first major tournament | today when he shot a 70-69 in the final two rounds to take the 40 first money Jn the Spalding Open with a 72-hole total of 281. Art Clark of Huntington, W. Va., only American in the tournament, finished far out of the running with a 295 total after firing 73-74. today. Hargreaves finished three shots ahead of John Panton, Scottish champion, who also carded 70-69 in the final two rounds. Stocky Argentinian Antonio Cerda, playing his first British tournament of the season, finished third, four strokes behind the leader with 285. He shot a 75 and a 67 today. South Africas Bobby Locke, British Open champion, fired a brilliant 65* in the final round but it was only good enough to earn him a tie for fourth place with Charles Ward, Max Faulkner and. Tom Haliburton, all home players.
