Illinois Notes WASHINGTON PARK, Homewood, TJ1., June 1. In a private transaction, Sidney Carpenter purchased Shining Deed from I/. C. Pessolano. R Conino will condition his new acquisition for future engagements. Lee Finley stated that he has engaged jockey Andy LoTurco to guide Free For Me in the Miss America Stakes. The talented filly is owned by Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Daniel. Doug Dodson, who suffered a badly bruised hip and arm when thrown from a fractious charge during the post parade of the sixth race on Thursdays program, will resume riding Saturday. Dodson is scheduled to be astride J. S. Bradley!s Sun David in the Edward J. Fleming Memorial. Benjamin Fogelson purchased Missab from the Alsab Farm. Don Kerrone will condition the Fogelson racer. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Dan Stewart, trainer of those horses owned by Peter A. B. Widener, has engaged R. L. Baird to pilot Wideners Miss Break in the forthcoming Miss America Stakes. J. Graham Brown and Roscoe Goose sent word that they would be in attendance for Saturdays program here. Wilbur Borton, conditioner of the Chicago division of the pretentious Brown Hotel Stable, maintained by Brown, is presently prepping the four-year-old filly, Miss Highbrow, among others, for the forthcoming stake engagements. Racing secretary Lawrence Bogenschutz distributed to local horsemen stake blanks for the Saratoga and Empire City meetings. Anyone desiring these pamphlets may obtain them from Bogenschutz or any member of his staff. Reuben Kowall, owner of Pur Sang, winner of the Peabody Memorial, returned to his Detroit home after witnessing his colts brilliant performance in the initial three-year-old stake of the Chicago season. It was learned here today that Alex Menger has made arrangements to ship the two-year-old filly Elaine Ruth to this sector for the i;fprthcoming Miss America Stakes. Elaine Ruth, owned by Paul You-kilis, of Cincinnati, presently is quartered at River Downs. James Hikes checked in with his modest public stable from Churchill Downs. Comprising the unit were C. arid C. Bothmans Fly Out, G. R. Schneiders George Gains, and Miss L. P. Hickmans Bestarab.
