Gallant Song Is Starter Tonight at Aurora Downs Will Be Prohibitive Favorite Despite Outside Post Position AURORA DOWNS, Aurora, HI. — Gallant Song, the sharpest pacer on the grounds and the horse voted most likely to go a two minute clip this season, "will make his fourth start of the meeting at Aurora Downs Saturday night. Winner hi two of his three outings, the four-year-old Gay Song brown horse has displayed tremendous pacing ability for so early in the campaign. In his first trip, Bill Evers piloted Gallant Song to an easy triumph in 2:09. He made a break leaving his second start and was sixth in 2:07.2. However, on May 26 the crack sidewheeler showed his heels to a good field to romp in 2:08.1. Saturday night Gallant Song will handicap the field, figuratively speaking having to start from the outside position, but still will go postward a prohibitive favorite. If any horse in the race appears to have the edge in beating Gallant Song, it would likely be Goose Island. For, the four-year-old Brookdale bay mare has toured the half-mile oval in 2:07.3 and won her last trip in the favorable time of 2:08. Goose Island also gained the break in the draw, having picked the pole. And, with her speed and staying power, may have just enough racing luck to upset the very capable Gallant Song. Rounding out the field for the featured eighth race is Symbol Adam, Mr. D. Grat-tan, Spud Worthy, Chief Taylor and Court Lawful. Chief Taylor, owned and driven by Olen Humphres, is also a possibility. The six-year-old Chief Counsel bay gelding has entered the charmed circle twice this meeting in times of 2:11 and 2:10.2. Chester Mc, E. C. Hartmans 10-year-old Hollyrood King gelding, which hasnt been worse than third in four starts, will seek to annex his third straight triumph in the sixth race, a mile classified pace. Chester Mc is at his best right now and has the ability to dispose of the field of Theodores First, G. W. A., Laura Jane Tryax, Vera Grattan, Orphan C, Beaver Hal and Major Brookdale. On May 19 Chester Mc covered the course in 2:08.4. Prior to this heat he clicked off a 2:07.4 mile. He was second his first start and third his second.
