KTBA PreDerby Dinner Draws More Than 300 300Trainers Trainers Tell Group of Chances Of Their Charges in Big Race RaceCHURCHILL CHURCHILL DOWNSi Louisville Ky April 30 The annual preDerby dinner of the Kentucky Thoroughbred Breeders As ¬ sociation drew a capacity crowd of more than 300 to the Brown Hotel Roof Garden last night and as per custom trainers of probable Derby starters told the multitude assembled about the Derby chances of their respective starters startersSome Some trainers professed to having the wits scared out of them by Hill Gail and Ben A Jones But as trainer J W Burton of Smoke Screen put it We Ken ¬ tuckians dont scare too easily and we think well run anyway anywayJ J J Whitey Jansen trainer of Gush ¬ ing Oil seemed to think that Gushing Oil would be the winner Hill Gail or no Hill Gail He pointed out that the Gusher already had two Derbys to his credit the Louisiana and Arkansas not to mention the Blue Grass Stakes StakesBen Ben Jones himself made a few modest statements about Hill Gails chances chancesT T W Wally Dunn trainer of the Cali ¬ forniaowned bred and raced Arroz re ¬ marked that he hoped the best horse won the Derby but that he also hoped that the horse happened to be owned by Mrs Gor ¬ don Guiberson GuibersonThe The principal speaker of the evening was Bryan Field vicepresident and general manager of Delaware Park ParkClifford Clifford Lussky president of the KTBA presided and introduced Bill Corum pres ¬ ident of Churchill Downs who acted as toastmaster
