OSCAR WHITE Saddled One Count Countfor for his winning effort yesterday at the theBelmont Belmont Park track MacPhail Reveals Plans For Bowie improvements improvementsBoth Both Grandstand and Clubhouse To Be Enlarged at Fall Meeting MeetingBALTIMORE BALTIMORE Md May 7 With his usual determination Larry S MacPhail president of the Bowie race track last night announced plans for a 750000 im ¬ provement plan to be carried out prior to the scheduled November 17 opening at the Southern Maryland course Foremost on I the extensive schedule will be enlargement of facilities in the grandstand and club ¬ house providing comfort and convenience for patrons as well as the building of new access roads roadsSaid Said MacPhail The race track will be rebuilt to provide new sevenfurlong and quartermile chutes wider turns and grade elimination The track will be made wide enough to enable us to start 16 horses in stake races should the occasion arise We are also making plans to consolidate the stable area necessitating the removal of five barns and the building of similar ac ¬ commodations in other locations locationsOn On schedule for next year according to MacPhail are Further enlargement of grandstand and clubhouse accommodations to increase capacity a new turf club addi ¬ tional access roads and a new paddock Total cost for our improvement plan stated MacPhail will be 2500000 2500000The The former baseball magnate when asked if he intended staging a 100000 race refused to be pinned down but he did say we may have a 100000 race or a pair of 50000 races but we are not in a position to make a definite statement at this time
