Jack the Great Merely Toys With Pimlico Rivals RivalsReports Reports Three and Half Lengths Before Adopt in Towson Purse PursePIMLICO PIMLICO Baltimore Md May 7 Wal ¬ ter A Jack Edgars speedy Jack the Great merely toyed with his rivals this afternoon while easily accounting for the featured Towson Purse under jockey Nick Shuk Winlochan Stable s Adopt was second over Carolyn K Stables Whiffenpoof with George A Sacks Rare Knave and Alan T Clarkes King Mowlee completing the com ¬ pact field fieldExcellent Excellent weather again prevailed for the midweek offering and a goodly crowd of 11336 turned out for the program Whif ¬ fenpoof was a slight favorite over Jack the Great and the latter returned 600 after scampering six furlongs in 111 under 116 pounds poundsJack Jack the Great a notorious speed horse was expected to have a bit of difficulty in disposing of Whiffenpoof early but that was not the case Shuk sent the Jack High gelding to the front at once allowed him to coast along on the head end and the than reported three and onehalf lengths in the van vanAdopt Adopt attracted considerable support his followers apparently feeling that he would be running best at the finish after Jack the Great and Whiffenpoof had raced each other into the ground Adopt did close im ¬ pressively from last position but his chal ¬ lenge fell far short of victory He con ¬ cluded the dash two and onehalf lengths before the favored Whiffenpoof WhiffenpoofWhiffenpoof Whiffenpoof was shipped here last week ¬ end in company with Hi Billee but just as that one was third in the Primary Day Handicap he was forced to settle for a minor award in the Towson finishing five lengths before Rare Knave who in turn was two and onehalf lengths before King Mowlee
