George Newton Adams Pacific Northwest Racing Figure Dies DiesSEATTLE SEATTLE Wash May 7 George New ¬ ton Adams 73 well known racing figure in the Pacific Northwest succumbed to a heart attack late last month Adams was born on the Skokomish Indian Reservation July 28 1880 and lived there all his life lifeHe He served in the Washington state legis ¬ lature for 41 years and always was in ¬ tensely interested in horse racing He raced horses at the old Meadows track before the turn of the century and in the course of his life witnessed seven Kentucky Derby runnings Adams served as a judge at Longacres since that track opened 21 years ago agoAdams Adams was regarded as one of the fore ¬ most leaders in Indian affairs and was very active in the National Congress of Ameri ¬ can Indians
