Porterhouse Is Receiving Diathermy for Soreness Trainer Hopeful Colt Will Show Better Effort in Belmont Stakes Continued from Page One evident during the training hours that he was at least a possibility. The Goya TJ. colt, who was withdrawn from Thursdays sale because of tendon trouble, breezed a slow mile and a quarter in 2:15 this morning, going evenly all the way and appeared "racing sound" at the conclusion of the trial. The colt breezed six furlongs on Saturday. Robert S. Lytles Correlation, who is the third of the Belmont question marks, was to have breezed Sunday morning. If he did, it was before 5:30 a.m. The Californian, who was narrowly beaten by Hasty Road in the Preakness, then bore in badly from the start of the Jersey Stakes and finished sixth, has been getting X-ray treatments here at Belmont Park, but is a probable for the classic mile and one-half-. Many local horsemen believe that King Ranchs High Gun, winner of the Peter Pan, will confirm this victory in the Belmont. Max Hirschs charge came out of that slowly run nine furlongs in fine fettle. It is possible that he may have a running mate in the filly, Riverina, who worked an impressive mile in 1:39 this morning. However, this daughter of Princequillo is more likely to be reserved, for the Delaware Oaks in which she will meet those of her own sex. At this writing, the Belmont field is expected to come from High Gun, Porterhouse, Correlation, Goyamo, C. V. Whitneys Fisherman, Greentree .Stables Diving Board, Mrs. J. R. H. Thouroris War of Roses and, possibly, Foxcatcher Farms Chevation. The latter colt won the Kent Stakes at Delaware Park on Saturday and scored in a mile event at Belmont Park before that, winning both races by daylight. He carried only 108 pounds in the Kent, to 123 on War of Roses, who had won the Jersey Stakes in his previous outing, but beat Jim Ryans charge by seven lengths. Maine Chance Farms Jet Action and Greentrees Palm Tree virtually eliminated themselves from the Belmont by bad races in the Peter Pan and Kent on the week end. Outside possibilities for the championship test include C. T. Chenerys Prince Hill, Greentrees Dream of Glory, Ogden. Phipps Privacy, Wheatley Stables Full Flight, Woodley Lane Farms Red Hanni-gan and Mrs. Thourons Christmas Gift.
