January 17. — The heaviest rain that has fallen here in years deluged Hie track Q today and kept the attendance down to a handful ,.. the regulars. It fairly poured down all after-noon, making the colors of the jockeys difficult to distinguish. What little interest there was. centered in the fourth Mar, a free handicap for j three year olds and upward at one mile, which was taken by A. Muskoday in hollow fashion. He yimply », reveled iu the water, never leaving the result in doubt. The betting was light and spiritless, with the books having a shade the better of it. _ J. P. Atkin will sell his entire string now racing . to here within the next week. , The entry of All Right will lie accepted from now on. He was barred several weeks ago from starting on account of refusing to break. _ It is rumored here tonight that J. J. Ryau of get-rich-quick notoriety, who has been visiting the t track during the last week, will lie asked to stay . away.
