CONDENSED HISTORY OF THE GRAND UNION HOTEL STAKES. The Grand Union notel Stakes is justly esteemed one of the leading events of the Saratoga meeting and Is named after one of the fashionable hotels of the popular resort. It Is one of the series of stakes established in 1901 and has usnally been won by a subsequently good racehorse, Highball, winner of the last American Derby, ltoing a case in point.
