BOOKMAKER BAIRD BADLY HURT. Oakland, Cal., December 19. Charles Baird, the bookmaker who was assaulted and cruelly dealt with while on his way home from the track a week ago, will not be able to resume business at the track for several weeks yet. His jaw was fractured in two places, which necessitates it being placed In a plaster cast and it will not be removed for some time, says the physician attending Baird.
