MURPHYS CAPITAL PERFORMANCE. Displays Fine Order of Speed to Win Havana Feature Race — H. K. Knapp Departs. Havana, Cuba, February 1. — The McGee colt, Murphy, showed a good performance in todays feature at Oriental Park, when he beHt the odds-011 favorite. Droll, a scant length in the three -ipiarters of a mile handicap. The winner carried 117 pounds, made all the pace and rau the distance in 1:12. In the opener, Skeets set a terrific pace, going the three-eighths in M%, but weakened at the end nnd Two Royals got up to beat him in the closing strides. Bulger, the favorite, was pulled up at the start of the second race, then closed a big gap to finish a fa-t-going third. Bulger was liest and might have won with a belter read off. The race went to King Stalwart, which set the pace all tiie way. bat was tiring and just lasted long enough to win. Worlds Wonder laptured the fourth race after wearing I-hicore down in the final sixteenth. Spohn. juoted at 20 to 1. won the fifth race, leading from start to finish. Encore was claimed by B. B. BUee for 1917.sh25 after he was beaten in the fourth race. II. K. Knapp. who has been a daily visitor at Oriental lark the past two weeks, left this morning for New York. Then- were a number of arrivals from New Orleans. An.ong them was Howard Pearson, sportin, editor of the Detroit Journal. In his party were .lames Ctimmings and William Swart, the manager of the Darval track at Montreal, and Fred Richard was also a visitor. Others in his party were Dave Richards, Louis Ltournea and Victor Li -may.
