W. PERKINS HAS STAR TWO-YEAR-OLD NEW ORLEANS. La.. January 4. Every trainer with a two-year-old iu his stable entertains tin; hope that a coming star of the turf is among his collection of baby racers. Will Perkins, the colored trainer who sprung into much prominence from the fact that he developed the crack Billy Kelly, is of the belief that he has in his barn at the Fair Grounds one or more youngsters that may rival the sou of Dick Welles. He has five youngsters hen: all told and they have all shown him they have abundant speed in their preliminary trials. They are as follows: Chestnut colt by Handsel Gallantlie; chestnut colt by Ivan the Terrible Rebellion; bay filly by Vncle Velocity; chestnut filly by Rapid Water Mettie Bereaud, and a bay filly by Jack Atkin Her ladyship. He also has alwut twenty two-year-olds at the Kentucky Association course, which he will take up on his return to the Blue Grass State. Perkins found that lie had altogether too many horses here to look after and, accordingly, a short time ago he turned over to J. Hogan the horses owned by W. F. Poison. In addition to these he sent seven horses to Havana in charge of jockey Cecil Howard, who is training and riding them at Oriental Park.
