LOUIS, Mo., April 23— Seventy-six of the most prominent stake horses that will race in the Middle West this year have been named in the Collinsville Handicap, the J5.000 stake which will feature the card of the opening day of the thirty-seven days of racing at Fairmount Park, May 26 to July 7. The third running of this stake has attracted an outstanding array of horses. Aud-ley Stock Farm has named March Violet and the Man o War filly Sister Ship. H. G. Bedwell has named the consistent performer Bulletin, a favorite with the Fairmount Park regulars. William Dondas will be represented with his Derby hope Mickey D. Hal Price Headley has nominated Almadel and Helens Babe. Benjamin Block has named his good three-year-old Mordear. The Bloomfield Stable of Briggs, Fisher and Navin has named four, including Dowagiac and the imported Tyrol. Other outstanding horses with reputations as sprinters named in this stake include J. N. Camdens Dark Phantom, W. R. Coes Houseboy, Coldstream Studs Little Cyn, Kenton Farm Stables General Halde-man, Bernard Baruchs Kershaw Stables imported Happy Argo ; Le Mar Stock Farms Misstep, B. B. McLeans Time Maker. Algol and Greenock ; C. W. Moores Martie Flynn, H. Xeusteters Nick Cullop, Howard Oots imported Illegitimate, Seagram Stables Edisto, Rolls Royce and Solace, Harry Payne Whitneys Color Sergeant, and Al G. Woodmans Fairmount Derby candidate The Show Off. The event is for three-year-olds and over, at three-quarters. This will be the third running of the stake. Captain Hal was its winner in 1926 and Prince of Wales its winner in 1927. As in previous years, the owner of the winner will be presented with a chest of sterling silver by the citizens of Collinsville, 111., near which little city Fairmount Park is located.
