GENTEEL LADY, well handled and suited to the going, responded fast nearing the final quarter, cams through the field for the drive, reached the lead in the final three-sixteenths, but tired after establishing a big advantage. PENNCOTE, forced wide while racing .forwardly, moved up with a rush in the stretch and was wearing down the winner at the end. SNAPLOCK, outrun to the stretch, closed with a rush. CHIEFS PRIDE raced evenly. CLOUDET, well up from the start, stumbled when in close quarters at the far turn, but made up ground after recovering. ROYAL LEON, outrun for three-eighths, came to the inside for tha drive, but tired after reaching contention. MARCH STEP, used up reaching the lead, quit in the final eighth PAT C. quit. WHISK-OLO, a strong factor from the start and put to strong urging after three-quarters, drew clear after reaching the lead, but failed to withstand the winner. WHIZZAWAY, used up setting the pace, gave way to the leaders, but held on well. PRINCE SPLENDOR forced the pace under strong urging, but tired rapidly after seven-eighths. SOUTH GALLANT, in close quarters in the opening quarter, failed to improve his position when clear and held on in good style. CROSS RUFF, eased to avoid mishap, made up a little ground in the drive. BACK FENCE was done after five-eighths. McCARTHY, blocked at the turn into the back stretch, showed nothing. EDDIE J. was outrun.
