Haughton Saddles Fifth Winner of Suffolk Meet MeetSends Sends Out Staging to Prevail Over Spiteful Sue in Sprint SprintSUFFOLK SUFFOLK DOWNS East Boston Mass May 3 Trainer Ed Haughton who has only eight horses in training won his fifth purse of the 13dayold meeting when he saddled Etaging in the featured sixth race here today Racing in the colors of the veteran trainers wife Staging was turn ¬ ing in a repeat performance as she won her second race of the meeting and her third in seven starts this year The six furlongs were completed in 113 Fantasy Farms Spiteful Sue finishing a halflength off the winner and a length and a half in front of Jerry McCarthys Cherish CherishA A crowd of 13174 was on hand for the days program being treated to a variety of prices two favorites proving successful during the early races with a sprinkling of long prices being spread over the other events Staging had to survive a claim of foul before the race was made official making it three out of her last four times that she was involved in a foul claim claimThe The Stagehand filly was disqualified after winning at Jamaica and was also the victim of a foul claim when winning her previous start here In both races she lugged in slightly but did not cause any Interference In accomplishing her most recent triumph Staging dueled with Cher ish for the command from the time Bob Frend sent the field away awayThe The two leaders were making a run ¬ away of the race with Cherish having the advantage down the backstretch three lengths in front of the others They raced this way right into the homestretch where Staging took over as Cherish failed to pro ¬ duce a late drive Spiteful Sue was well back of the early pace coming with a strong bid in the run to the wire only to fall short Jockey Earl Jenkins up on Spiteful Sue lodged the claim of foul which was disallowed disallowedBobby Bobby Bauer became the first jockey of the seasoQ to ride both ends of the daily double when he came down in front with Zacamazum in the opening race and then doubled back with Old Banner in the sec ond completing the double for a payoff of 46360 to 81 fortunate ticket holders
