Masedo raced quickly up to the leader and displayed brilliant speed, but tired after going a fast half and was palpably handicapped by the going. Procrastinate, away badly, improved his position rapidly, but eventually lost in a shuttle at the head of the stretch under a very " bad ride. Laura F. SI., away slowly and shutlled back at the half, closed a big gap in the last half. Mafalda, nearly left, made up a lot of groind, but apparently was handicapped by the going. Major Jenny, away Hying, made the running to the stretch, where he dropped back and, coming again unexpectedly, put up a game tinlsh under the whip. Invictus was always in close and game pursuit from start to finish, showing sudden improvement. Edgecliff, in forward contention for a mile, tired at the end as if short. Crigli displayed superior early speed and put up a game struggle to save third place. Bose Eley, on the Inside, had a rough early journey, but finished fast, running In much improved form. Chestnut failed to stay. Royal White was short. The name, applies to San Remo, which got away very slowly. Albert Fir leisurely trailed the winner and his rider was caught napping by Toupees quick rush and was never able to get up afterwards. Boknlghtcd came along gamely at the end Into an easy third. Beau Ormonde, very uncertain, failed to stay. Queen Rec disliked the going. Overweights Albert Fir, 1 pound.
