TOM MGRATH STILL IN WINNING FORM. Defeats Many of the Best Sprinters in California in Adam Andrew Selling Stakes. Barney Schreibers brilliant youngster, Tom Me-Crath, won todays rich stake at Oakland after a heart-breaking effort from a field of thirteen of the best sprluters in California. Notwithstanding disheartening weather conditions of storm and rain the Adam Andrew Selling Stakes at 6 1-2 furlongs attracted u big field. The Missouri bred Sain Miss Marlon colt, coupled with his lightly regarded stable companion Pinker-ton, was favorite, and so heavily supported at post time that 8 to 5 was the best on offer. Schade, the stable jockey, was astride its main dependence and despite his weakened condition from a recent attack of illness gave a winning display of horsemanship. After this afternoons exploits in the saddle Schade is conceded a promising future career as a rider and is declared to be the regular annual "jockey find" of the California season, his masterly effort on Angleta in the closing race, in particular, strengthening such opinions. Kuapp is picking up, the victories of Blue Bottle and Bill Curtis in the first and second races being chiefly due to his vigor and alertness. Tom McGrath was the only winning favorite that was supported to any extent, all the others, winners and losers alike receding in the betting. On the whole the ring must have hud an exceedingly profitable day of It. Thirty-three bookmakers cut in. E. J. Baldwin was a visitor at the track.
