G. J. LONG REFUSES 0,000 FOR SIR HU0N. Baid, That John W. Gates Wants the Kentucky Derby Candidate Louisville Training News. Louisville, Ky., January 13. George J. Long, it is reported, has refused an offer of 0,000 from John W. Gates for Sir Iluon. The sou of Falsetto is now at Churchill Downs with the remainder of the Long racing establishment. Mr. Long is satisfied that Sir Huou has an excellent chance to win he Kentucky Derby and that he will be successful in more than one of the eastern stakes next season. Further than this, it is his intention that he shall succeed his dead sire in the stud at Bashford Manor. The only other stables now at Churchill Downs are those of Dr. J. D. Ncet, of Versailles, Ky.,. in charge of trainer Ed Brown, the juvenile division of Fred Cooks stable In charge of trainer William Phillips, and the Waldeck stable, in charge of trainer Carroll B. Reid. The Picket is in this lot and is doing well. William Walker, the former jockey, is getting ready - band of two-year-olds for Jake Greenburg at the Greenburg farm a few miles out from town. Charles Bollinger took over the Wehmhoff poolroom In South Louisville on Monday, but relinquished it after three days. The place Is still open, but has gone back to the control of Wehmhoff and the old scale of prices is in vogue.
