FLORAL KING- IS "ROUGHED." : MEETS WITH REPEATED INTERFERENCE IN ! 1 THE ORLEANS HANDICAP AT CITY PARK. D. Hill Held to Have Been the Chief Offender and Is Fined 00 and Suspended for Two Weeks. New Orleans, La., February. 3. Secretary Joseph A. .Murphy today provided City Park patrons with the best card that has been offered during the winter and they turned out in droves, tilling the spacious stand to its fullest capacity. The hopes of the backers of Floral King In the Orleans Handicap were soon shattered. The big striding sprinter, witli his burden of 130 pounds, was crowded back and out of contention when the start came. Three or four of the riders took n crack at Floral King and D. Austin was forced to pull him tip to keep from going down. On the turn nut of the backstretch, when he attempted to go through on the inside. Floral King again suffered from interference. This time lie was crowded against the fence and all but fell. When Anstin got him steadied this time he was last of all and hopelessly beaten for any part of the money. After the race the judges got busy and as a resnlt of their investigation jockey D. Hall, who had the mount on John Carroll, was suspended for two weeks and as nn additional punishment a fine of .00 was Imposed. In booking on the race, Harry Gardner held ills horse out. Roth he and trainer McCoulskey were confident that Floral King would win and the result of the race was a keen disappointment to them. Itadtke arrived from California last night. If he had his choice he would ride at City Park, for it was at this track that he had his first mount last winter.
