Forerunner ran lapped on the pacemaker under a good pull to the last turn, where he ran to the front, easily stalling off all stretch challenges. Ralhert broke slowly and was shut off at a critical point on the far turn and carried wide Into the stretch, but finished with a rush, ran a superior race and should Improve. Lily Golding steadily improved her position from an Indifferent start and was coming at the end like a cyclone. Stirling Towers was still sore- and only lasted half the journey on sufferance. Mlmo showed Improved form tinder good handling. Chief Wittman made up ground. Golden Sunrise got away poorly. Scratched 59453 Montanus, 94; 5975G Isolation, 93. Corrected weights Ralbert, 103. Nine Spot, a stayer, was rated well in hand in a forward position and, after being carried wide on the last turn, made good decisively In the stretch. Byronerdale, reserved on the heels of the pacemaker for a mile, was shut off: on the last turn, but saved ground on an inside position and, after apparently having the race as good as won, quit badly in the closing strides. Expedient, Injudiciously urged to keep up in the early running, finished like a whirlwind and would have won In fifty yaids further. Royalty sulked, apparently, throughout. Invictus went well for a mile and an eighth. W. B. Gates failed to stay. Elie loomed up well on the far turn and then retired as if short. Scratched 59008 Phaon, 10G. Won easily; second driving. Tenordale, away poorly, made up ground gradually and decisively outstayed her opponents In the closing drive. Silver Wedding, shuffled to the rear on the far turn and badly messed about, came on with a belated end rush and outstayed Lacene. The latter, poorly handled and away on the extreme outside, was used up In closing a big early gap and taking the lead prematurely. Saintolat was in forward and game contention throughout. Avonalis was unlucky and closed a big gap in the last six furlongs. Ha, nearly left, showed superior speed for seven furlongs. Isolation dropped to the rear after going a good six furlongs. Grass-cutter and La Chata were never dangerous. Overweights Avonalis, 1 pound; Petaluma, 3. Tenordale. singly, place, 2 to 1; show, 0 to 5. Queen Rec, singly, place, 5 to 1; show, 2 to 1. Wexford. after a f.ying start, ran in close early attendance on the pacemaker, but was shuffled back on the far turn and badly messed about, then came along on the extreme outside and made good decisively. Theo Case, away slowly, closed an Immense gap In the last half and ran a remarkable race. The Lieutenant injudiciously forced the pace nearly all the way and succumbed right at the end. Massa had a rough journey throughout nndor a bad ride. Governor Davis, shut off at the half and carried to the extreme outside on the last 1 turn, ptit up a superior effort Inadequately handled. Pronta again failed to stay after showing early speed. The others were outclassed. 1 Corrected weights Governor Davis, 83; Red Light, 97. 1 1 fiAl 1 I SIXTH RACE 1 Mile. Graziallo stole a long lead on the first turn and made the running by a big gap never seriously menaced, but was mlldlv urged near the" end to stall off Toupees rush. The latter, shut off on the first turn, maintained a good . position within hailing distance and finished on the inside with a sensational, but belated end rash. , Deutschland was in nearest and strenuous pursuit of the tremendous pace for seven furlongs and only ; succumbed for second place in the last couple of strides. Sir Brillar, away slowly, closed a lot of early ground and ran a fast and game race. Dorado was inadequately handled all the wav and requires n vigor- " , ous rider. Bob Ragon was never dangerous. Princess Titania got away badly anil seemingly was never able to Improve her position. Throw her race out.
