EITHER HORSE COULD HAVE WON. New Orleans, La., March :;. Captain Jim Williams could have won the Oakland Handican today with either Phil Finch or Hams Horn and without tithcr being extended. They ran one-two in easy fashion as to make it certain there is no chance, to give either a hard nice here undpr any reasonable scheme of weight. There was some curiosity as to whether Phil Finch or Bains floni would run the better race, but the race did not indicate which was better. Barns Horn cantered alongside of Monaco Maid Until she was ready to quit, then waited for Phil Finch and both horses were pulled sideways at the end. Frang Lord won the two-year-old race from Our Own. The victory did not look particularly impressive, hut it was good enough to prompt Mose CoMblatt to offer Archie ZImmer .,100 for the colt. The offer was refused. Goldblatts filly, Helen Lucas, was a close third and the price offered for the Zimmcr colt would make it appear that Gold-b!;:tt thinks well of the filly. Ben Hodder worked a mile in IMS between races this afternoon. B. C. Worms today bought of "Frisco" Gardner the chestnut colt Gothaline. by Gotham Aramanda, for ,200, and will race him at Hot Springs.
