Mr. Farnum made the running undisturbed and, stealing a long lead at a critical point on the only serious contender, won a lucky race. Preservator, after trailing overlong and being plastered with mud, was badly interfered with on the first turn of the second mile and never able afterwards to quite get up. but was best. Expedient ran sluggishly and unexpectedly failed to stay. Liberto, in forward contention throughout, put up a game strnggle for third place. Northwest, never really dangerous, was eliminated as a contender by running wide on the last turn and likes a slower track. Christine A. is stale. Hi Col Cap was probably short.
