NOTES OF THE TURF. J. 0. Keene should have a good line on the fifth race at Oakiawn today. He owns San Ardo and did own Jacomo, Tres Joli and Biawawi; Entries to the stakes to be decided at the spring meeting of the Latonia Jockey Club close today. See advertisement in another part of this paper. C. T. Gardner appears to have promising jockey material in the little boy Joseph Callus. This lad began his career in the saddle at the present meeting at Oakiawn. He has ridden five winners, four seconds, and two thirds out of his 37 mounts. The best three-quarters observed by the work watchers at Gravesend this year was Warnings 1:10 on Monday. Warning belongs to "Father Bill" Daly and he is getting ready for Bennings. He had a good, big boy as his pilot and ran the first eighth in 12 seconds, the quarter in 24, the three-eighths in 3CJ, the half in 49 and the five-eighths in 1:021.
