Shenandoah was doiug his best all the way and was beaten on his merits. Whorler ran a good race and took third place without trouble Marvel P. showed plenty of early speed, but quit after going a half mile. Buttercup was a contender all the way and finished gamely, but tiring. My Gem did not seem to relish the going. Oheron threw his rider while at the post and ran away a furlong at half speed. Paul ran a good race for a mile and a quarter, but tired in the stretch and he and Nine bumped each other repeatedly.
