METROPOLITAN HANDICAP WEIGHTS. In announcing his assignment of weights to the horses engaged in the Metropolitan Handicap Mr. Vosburgh adheres fairly closely to the figures of the Brooklyn, Suburban and Brighton Handicaps, the most noticeable variation being in the cases of the two western horses, Bains Horn and Phil Finch. It is evident Mr. Vosburgh has taken notice of the performances of these rapid horses at New Orleans, the result being that Hams Horn has been given 110 pounds in the Metropolitan and Phil Finch 114. He had previously given Phil Finch 108 pounds in the Brooklyn aud 107 in the Brighton, and to Hams Horn 111 in the Brooklyn and Suburban, and 110 in the Brighton. Speaking of New Orleans performers it must bo said that at 09 pounds Orly is in remarkably light. Many good turfmen at New Orleans rated him the equal of Hams Horn and Phil iinch. Floral King is another New Orleans celebrity leniently treated at 107 pounds. Floral King is a delicate horse, hard to fit and hard to keep "on edge," but extremely fast when at his best. It Is safe to say that if this horse goes to the post for the Metropolitan in his best form, and the Belmont Park track is also at Its best that day, the horse that beats him will also have to beat 1:38. In the meantime Sysonby has been given the same, 131 pounds assigned him in the other big eastern handicaps, a very light burden, in view of his formidable list of great achievements. The impression gains strength in eastern turf circles that Sysonby will be started again for the race in which he so narrowly escaped defeat last year when Race King ran him to a dead heat, but this opinion is merely guesswork and it is more probable that Sysonby will have his first race of importance later on iu the year. Hermis, 1-0; Ort Wells, 125; Delhi, 124; Stalwart, 123; Artful, 123; Hamburg Belle, 122; Boseben, 121, are the other horses handicapped at over 120 pounds, and of these only Delhi, Artful, Hamburg Belle and Roseben are to be considered as contingently likely to start. The. conditions of the race, the entries and the weights are as follows: The- Metropolitan Haudieap, for 3-year-olds and upward, by subscription of 00 each, half forfeit, or 0 only if declared by Tuesday, April 17, to the winner, with 0,000 added, of which ,000 to the second, ,000 to the third.
