FAVORITES BEATEN, BUT BOOKS LOSE. Hot Springs, Ark., Marcli 20i In the first four races at Oaklawn this afternoon, the favorites were beaten, but this is no indication that the eleven bookmakers were able to show winning sheets. The sharpshooters were abroad and when the accounts for the day were closed the layers were hoavily out or pocket. Harmakis, which won the feature race, in which Lubin was the even money favorite, was the best backed horse during the afternoon and he had slight trouble in annexing the purse from San Prlmo, with the favorite bringing up the rear. Ed Trotter bought Harmakis before the race for ,500 from J. W. ONeall. The sale, however, carried the condition that the horses share of the purse should go to ONeall. Good weather was responsible for an increased attendance and, althought the track was heavy, the sport was above the average, considering the poor fields. About thirty horses, the property of F. Walhauser, C. B. Campbell, H. Booker and J. W. Ulalock, arrived today from Ascot Park.
