F. was in close attendance on the pacemakers throughout and, while wearing them down in the stretch, swerved sharply to the inside in the closing strides and interfered with both Pentagon and Frolic, for which he was disqualified and placed third. Pentagon, a forward contender from the start, finished fast on the inside, but suffered seriously from J. K. F. bumping over on him in the last sixteenth. Frolic developed unexpected early speed and straightened for home with an apparently safe lead, tiring suddenly in the final sixteenth and swerving all. over the track. Frank Flittner was unable to stride freely in the going. Fred Bent likes stiffer footing.
