NOTES OF THE TURF. Secretary John Hachmeister says that 30,000 has already been extended on Douglas -Park. Mars Cassidy characterizes Halifax as "a devil incarnate" at the post. He says he is worse than Proper ever was and that be was bad enough. Owner Hal Woodford says Pink Star lias no fancy for a rough track. "It is natural," says lie, "his sire did not like that kind of going and his dam could not run well over a lumpy course." The S. M. Henderson who has lieen buying yearlings in New York, is S. Miller Henderson of Kentucky, brother-in-law of President Charles F. Grainger of the New Louisville Jockey Club. Jockey Grover Cleveland Fuller is frequently about the New York tracks these days. He Is still lame as the result of his fall in the Excelsior Handicap at Jamaica last year and says he does not expect to ride again. Planute, winner of the Cincinnati Trophy worked a quarter in 23 seconds- over the Hawthorne track, as a yearling last fall. Mr. Corrlgan at that time priced him to Mike Daly at 5,300, but Daly did not take him. The Stewards at Sheepshead Bay have advised L. A Cella that he is at liberty to discipline jockey Cherry as he deems best. It is probable then that the youngster will lie little in the saddle until lie makes up his mind to mend his ways.
