ANTI-BETTING RESOLUTIONS. Memphis, Teun., July 23. At the conference of the ministers of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, today, resolutions condemning the sport of racing and pledging support to legislative candidates who are opposed to betting were adopted. Committees are to be appointed to co-operate In the framing and passage of a bill to kill the sport in this state. M. R. Patterson, Democratic candidate for Governor, is regarded as friendly to horse racing as it has been conducted In this state.
